See a shift in the first session
Goodbye, Sunday Scaries
Imagine feeling excited for Monday.
The typical Sunday: anxiety creeps in around lunchtime. Tightness in your chest by dinner. Tossing and turning at night, dreading the alarm.
This doesn't have to be your normal. My clients create miracles like looking forward to Monday — a new week ahead full of possibility and exciting plans.
You’ve spent years climbing the ladder, but it’s no longer enough.
Does this sound familiar?
You keep hitting milestones that should feel amazing, but instead they feel hollow
You fantasize about quitting but can't imagine actually walking away from everything you've built
Your identity’s been absorbed by your career, and confronting who you are without it feels terrifying
You're surviving your life instead of actually living it — and you feel the cost in your body and your relationships
Wanting a break isn't a personal failure.
It's a predictable result of over-giving and prioritizing productivity over aliveness.
You're allowed to stop pretending a good salary and shiny title make up for a life that drains you.
You’re asking “can I afford to take a break?”
The real question is — can you afford not to?
The potential ROI for a break is bigger than you think.
My clients don't invest in coaching to just enjoy the time off. They invest to ensure their break delivers a change that rewrites how the rest of their life goes. And it does.
They’re able to:
Stop following a path someone else built and start designing their own.
Rediscover what excites them.
Set boundaries they've been mentally rehearsing for years.
Come back to work — or build something new entirely — with a clarity and energy that surprises everyone, including themselves.
The shift starts fast — 95% of clients feel it in the first session. The full transformation tends to change the trajectory of their lives.

Stop the second-guessing
-

Re-light your spark
-

Gain unshakeable confidence
Five pillars. One transformative experience.
Taking time off won’t change your life, but using it wisely will.
The break itself isn't the hard part. It's everything surrounding it — the fear, the guilt, the identity crisis, the financial anxiety, and the terrifying possibility that even after all this, nothing actually changes.
These are the challenges most people try to face alone. And they’re also what determines whether the time away truly changes you.
Intermission was built for exactly this. Five pillars of support designed to improve your life, instead of returning you to more of the same.
Break Strategy Intensive
A deep-dive session to build your personalized career break plan — one that gives you clarity and structure.
Plus, we’ll tackle the fears that’ve held you back, so you can finally move forward.
The Break Blueprint©
Your personalized sabbatical plan — structured enough to feel safe, flexible enough to actually work in the real world.
You’ll discover how to step away and return with confidence.
Private Coaching Sessions
One-hour sessions that go beyond the surface — uncovering beliefs and patterns that've been running the show for decades.
We’ll replace them with ones that let you approach life differently.
On-Demand Support
You'll get direct access to me via email and the Marco Polo app — for the 3 AM spirals, the hard conversations, and the big wins.
Real support, in real time, when it matters most. Every time you need it.
BreakSpace Community
A one-of-a-kind community where real connections happen.
You'll have access to exclusive resources, special sessions, and people who actually get what you're going through — because they're on the same journey.
Everything you get inside Intermission:
Intermission is my signature coaching program — a deeply personalized, high-touch experience to meet you exactly where you are and guide you through a successful break.
You deserve more than a cobbled-together plan based on Reddit threads and questionable AI advice. You deserve an expert who's done this herself, a proven framework, and someone in your corner who won't let you settle, shrink or crawl back to a life that no longer fits.
-
Your Intermission journey starts here.
You'll complete comprehensive pre-work and a life assessment, which I’ll thoroughly review beforehand. I’ll then map out our 90-minute Break Strategy Intensive, so we can dive right in and build the foundation of your Break Blueprint©.
This is where the fog starts to clear and the arc of your break starts to take shape.
-
Over three months, we go deeper.
These one-hour 1:1 sessions are where we tackle the real stuff — the fears holding you back, the identity shifts, the logistics of giving notice, the guilt, the relationships, and the vision for what your life looks like on the other side.
With an expert blend of life coaching and break consulting, we’ll build momentum session by session.
-
My support doesn't stop when the session ends.
You'll have direct access to me between sessions (via email & Marco Polo) for the moments you're spiraling about finances, processing a hard conversation with your partner, or celebrating a win you didn't see coming.
Some of my clients' biggest breakthroughs happen right here.
-
These personal check-ins keep you on track and build momentum, even when life throws you a curveball.
-
Join 80+ people who are planning, navigating, or reflecting on their own breaks. Having a community of people who actually get it makes all the difference.
-
We'll develop your blueprint together during our Intensive session, but you'll also have these videos and tools on hand to deepen your progress on your own time.
What they’re saying…
“[Coaching] has taken me off of the treadmill version of ‘success’ and forced me to live by my own rules. That’s not easy, but it’s been a gift and life changing.”
“Truly worth every penny. There is no amount of money that can rival the confidence and perspective shift I’ve gained.”
“Two months after, I applied for, interviewed, and accepted my dream job! I feel like myself again.”
“Katrina helped me do the work to change my thought patterns, as a Type-A overachiever whose identity was entirely wrapped up in their job.”
“I can’t put a price on how impactful it was, how important it was, and how much of a return I got off of that investment. It’s not even a question.”
“It’s not overstating it to say that working with Katrina is one of the most positive personal and professional decisions I ever made.”

I won't let you settle. And I definitely won't let you spiral.
Hi! I'm Katrina McGhee.
I'm a Master Certified Coach, two-time career breaker, bestselling author and the person clients describe as "relentlessly positive" because I advocate for their dreams.
I've guided 200+ breaks over nine years and built every piece of this program from lived experience — my own two breaks, my coaching framework and 1,000+ hours spent in the trenches with people navigating this exact crossroads.
I'll challenge the story you're telling yourself about why you can't do this. I'll articulate things you feel but can't quite name. I'll hold the vision of what's possible until you're strong enough to hold it yourself. And I'll celebrate every win along the way — even the ones you'd normally brush off — so you’re energized by your progress.
Still have questions? Great.
You're taking this seriously, which is exactly how clients who get the best results begin.

A career break coach protects a much bigger investment — the break itself.
Between the lost salary and savings, most career breaks cost tens of thousands of dollars. For a fraction of that, Intermission helps you make sure the investment pays off.
Clients come out with a break they don't regret, a story they share with confidence, and real clarity on what's next, which makes the return to work easier to navigate.
As Casey put it after hesitating over the cost: "The investment paid for itself in ways I didn't expect."Payment plans available.

Sabbatical coaching gives you what tons of research can't — guidance specific to your life, plus help actually applying it.
I've guided 200+ breaks over 9 years and taken 2 of my own. I know the traps a Google search or AI chat will miss.
As a Master Certified Coach, I can also spot the moment your brain decides you're the unicorn the rules don't apply to.
Everyone has those blind spots, and they're impossible to see when you're in it. I'll help you catch yours before they really cost you. -
Coaching helps you drop the habits that would otherwise follow you onto your break, like:
The need to be productive every single day
The guilt and angst about “not doing enough”
The “but what’s next” panic that kicks in on week two
A plan gets you out the door. Coaching makes sure those habits don't come along for the ride. Because left alone, they drain the life right out of a break.
We work on them before and during your break, so you can rest, explore, and enjoy the time you worked so hard for — and come back with a way of living that lasts long after the break ends.
-
I'm a Master Certified Life Coach, so this work goes deeper than career coaching.
We'll absolutely cover the logistics of planning a break. We'll also dig into identity, self-worth, fear, and the beliefs that have been running the show (and you) for decades.
I won't be polishing your resume or prepping you for interviews. My focus is your joy, your well-being, and creating a life that feels like a privilege to live. -
If you've already switched jobs and the exhaustion followed you, that's a strong sign you need a break, not just a new job.
A career change changes your role. A career break gives you space to actually heal the burnout and decide what you truly want instead — so your next move leads to something better, not more of the same.
If you know you just want a new career, a career coach will be your best next step.
-
Not at all. Plenty of clients start somewhere between "seriously considering it" and "resignation letter sent."
As Jessica O. put it, "Sometimes the reason to work with Katrina is exactly because you’re not clear yet."
You don't have to wait for your last day to start living differently. From our very first session, we bring pieces of your break life into your life right now.
Over 90% of my clients go on to take their break, and the few who don't still leave Intermission deeply changed — one landed her dream job two months later!
-
Yes, that's exactly what this process is designed to do.
Most clients arrive with zero clarity on what's next, and that's the perfect place to start.
If you had all the answers, you wouldn't need a coach. We'll uncover what you want as we go.
-
Absolutely. Many clients join after their break has begun.
Some are panicking, some have a break that looks fine on the surface but something deeper hasn't clicked, and some simply want to make sure they don't waste the time they fought so hard to create.
Whether you're two weeks or six months in, there's plenty of break left to make a big impact.
-
Done well, a career break strengthens your resume instead of hurting it.
Clients come back with more clarity, stronger boundaries, renewed energy, and a story about making a bold, intentional choice.
And the best employers love that story. I had the same fear before my first break, and after that 20-month break, I landed five job offers in five weeks. -
This is part of our work together.
Some skepticism from loved ones is normal at first, so we'll build the language to share your break with confidence: why it matters, how you've thought it through, and even how to have the conversation with your boss.
You'd be surprised how much a clear plan calms everyone down.
Megan went from dreading those conversations with her leader, colleagues, and family to handling them with confidence.
-
Start with three things: your why, your finances, and how you'll tell your employer.
"I'm burned out" is a starting point, not a plan, so get clear on what you want this time to give you. Then map out what you'll need financially and set a plan.
My Break Blueprint© framework walks you through all of it, turning a vague dream into a grounded plan that protects your career and leaves room to rest, explore, and come back stronger.
-
Most clients benefit from starting three to six months before their leave date, or earlier if their finances need time to come together — I've even worked with clients two years out.
Planning doesn't mean nailing down every detail (overplanning is one of the biggest traps I see).
Your Break Blueprint© gives you just enough structure to feel grounded without turning your break into another project to manage.
-
Less than you'd think, and it's built for people still working full-time.
We start with pre-work and a 90-minute intensive, then meet for five one-hour sessions every other week over three months.
Weekly check-ins take 5 minutes, and on-demand support via Marco Polo and email fits around your schedule.
Most weeks, you're looking at about 1 to 2 hours total.
-
Your support doesn't end when the program does. You keep lifetime access to BreakSpace, including monthly drop-in coaching, so you'll always have a place to land.
And if you want to keep working together 1:1, I offer continued coaching exclusively for current and past clients at a preferred rate.
-
Intermission is designed for professionals who work for someone else, so it's usually not the best fit for business owners winding down a company.
If you've built your career inside an organization and you're ready to step away, you're exactly who I help.
The identity fears, the golden handcuffs, the giving-notice conversation: that's my wheelhouse.
Is Intermission right for you?
-
✓ Definitely for you
Intermission is a YES if you:
- Have been thinking about a break for months, or years, but can't quite make the leap
- Are burned out, bored out, or deeply misaligned with your work
- Want permission, structure, and a plan — not just inspiration
- Want to take a career break without the chaotic identity crisis
- Are on a break but it's not delivering what you hoped it would
- Feel ready to stop following rules that make you miserable
-
✗ Likely not for you
Intermission is probably a NO if you’re:
- Seeking re-entry or job search support only (a career coach would be a better fit)
- A business owner looking to wind down a company
- Still saving for a break and feel quite far from your goal (if 1:1 coaching feels like a stretch, check out BreakSpace)
- More committed to the status quo than pursuing change
- Not open to being challenged on the beliefs that keep you stuck
Your best option for full career break support
I made this for you.
I know what it feels like to stand at the edge of a huge decision and wonder if you're making a big mistake. I've been there. Twice.
Both times, the break changed everything. Not because the break itself was magic — because I did the work to stop living by rules I'd outgrown and start building something that actually fit me.
That's what I want for you. Not a reckless leap or a dramatic exit. A thoughtful, supported, deeply intentional break that leads to a life you're genuinely excited about.
If you're ready for that — or even if you're just ready to stop pretending everything’s fine — I can't wait to welcome you in.
