Stay visible on LinkedIn. Upskill while you're off. Build resume bullets that justify the gap. I've watched this advice show up in Forbes for years, and about half of it is actively working against you.

Here's my problem with it: it treats your break as a PR exercise for your next employer. Delete the app. Don't upskill from fear. And you do not owe anyone a justification for resting.
